There is one of the heirloom stories from one family about found bear cub and nurtured by a woman as her own baby.
There is also reflected an issue of protecting Moon Bears in China. A little article about Animals Asia Foundation has put another meaning into my series. Animals Asia Foundation is a Hong Kong based charity) that raises awareness about cruelty and dedicated to restore respect for all animals. One of they projects to end bear bile farming in China. Moon Bears kept in "appalling conditions and exist in agony from the rusting metal catheters implanted deep into their gallbladders or from the permanently open and infected holes in their abdomens from which the bile was extracted."(from article "Putting heat on China", by Gay Mackie)
Many things resulted in this series, where you could smell the dryed grass of great steppes of Central Asia and spot some symbols found in folk art accross from Asia to Hungary and Finland.
Unbearable Story
It is a story of abuse of humans by humans, cruelty of humans to animals. It is also about love and defending the helpless.
I just felt that I have to tell that story…in pictures.
I have also appropriated the style of Yuri Vasnetsov in series of
“Unbearable Story” prints and “The Baby Bear, the Sun and 17 Moons”. I hope you recognise the style, because there was no kindergarten in Russia without his artworks on the wall…
